CoinFood Services

COIN Food Services is now under the umbrella of Peterborough Eats.  Please see the website for more information.

For the love of food, local agriculture, and all the different people that make up our community, COIN Food services is here. We are pursuing local sourcing while providing opportunities for individuals facing barriers to employment to build skills, confidence, and work experience. COIN Food Services is made up of three training enterprises, The Natural Blends Café, located in the main branch of the Peterborough Public Library, World2Go Catering, and The Kawartha Cookie Company.

Training Programs

For over 10 years, COIN has developed hands-on training programs dedicated to the advancement of career opportunities for people with intellectual challenges. More recently we have expanded our offerings to train individuals with other barriers to employment.

Employment barriers include:

  • Lack of work experience
  • Physical disabilities
  • Mental Health Diagnosis
  • Lack of education
  • Large gaps in employment
  • Cognitive & Developmental disabilities
  • Immigrants with English as a second language (lack of both English and familiarity with the Canadian workplace)

Participants:
Clients are received into the program through ODSP (Ontario Disability Supports Employment Support Program), OW (Ontario Works), and The New Canadians Centre. We also receive co-op students from the Kawartha Pine Ridge District School Board and the Peterborough Victoria Northumberland and Clarington Catholic District School Board. As well, CFS benefits from Sir Sandford Fleming College students completing work placements.
