COIN Enterprise Services (CES) offers enterprise training and small business development supports, personal or electronic, for youth, women & others interested in effective & sustainable small business development.
The Small Business Development Guide for New Canadians was developed by CES IN 2009 in partnership with the New Canadians Centre and with funding from Citizenship & Immigration Canada. It’s well-written instructions offer any potential entrepreneur a clear understanding of the work necessary to research and write a business plan and source start - up capital. It includes a full business plan template to help you write your business plan.
As the community partner for the Canadian Youth Business Foundation and referral partner to the Peterborough Community Futures Development Corporation, CES can assist you to access capital.
You need to:
- Complete a business plan (with CES referral to local resources if required)
- Submit your business plan to CES for review
- Upon approval, you will be asked to appear before an excellent local business Review Committee who will consider your plan
- Based on the Committee’s advice to the Canadian Youth Business Foundation, you will receive funds for your business
- Other local funders may also be interested in providing capital
Contact CES at 705-927-2646 for more information.
New Projects:
CES has worked with women interested in entrepreneurship from the Women Learning, Women Leading, Women Working Project (W4L2) funded by the Ministry of Community & Social Services.
All women in the course receive a briefing on social-purpose enterprise.
Current Projects:
Funding for Youth and Other Entrepreneurs
Presentations to the Local Review Committee continue based on youth applicants with appropriate business plans. If successfully reviewed, the applicant is recommended for capital funding from the Canadian Youth Business Foundation, or to other local funders such as the Peterborough Community Futures Development Corporation.
The Peterborough Community Bake-Oven Project
A dedicated group of volunteers has been planning to build a community bake oven in a Peterborough city park to encourage community development and to enjoy excellent, local food. The project has secured funding and a ‘location’ decision will be made soon. To put your name on a mailing list, please contact info@coin-ced.org.
Past Projects:
The Rural Youth Entrepreneurship Program, a Youth Entrepreneurship Program (YEP) project funded by the Ontario Ministry of Economic Development and Trade, was successfully completed in January 2010.
Significant supports and contacts developed by RYEP over the life of the project continue to be available to anyone interested in entrepreneurship through COIN Enterprise Services (CES).
On behalf of numerous local youth entrepreneurs, COIN would like to thank the Ontario Ministry of Economic Development and Trade for their support.
